THE FALL RETREAT

OCTOBER 29-31 2010

We are privileged to have the Rev. Peter Morales, recently elected President of the UUA, as our theme speaker at the Fall 2010 retreat! Morales, the first Latino president of the UUA, was elected on a platform of growth and multiculturalism. Public witness is central to Morales’s presidency; he is especially passionate about immigration reform and environmental justice.

Prior to his election, Morales served as the senior minister at Jefferson

Unitarian Church in Golden, Colorado, one the UUA’s largest and fastest growing congregations. From 2002 to 2004, Morales was the UUA Director for District Services. Morales has also served on the

UUA Board of Trustees, as trustee from the Mountain Desert District,

and on the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association (UUMA)

Executive Committee, as the first person to carry its anti-racism, anti-

oppression, multiculturalism portfolio.

Rev. Morales’ retreat theme, "Building a Religion Beyond Belief," will explore religion not as a set of beliefs but as what we love. His talk will speak about the role of religious community, the need to adapt to contexts, etc. The theme complements Rev. Morales’ letter in the Spring issue of UU World (http://www.uuworld.org/life/articles/158390.shtml).

EUU’S first retreat in the French Alsace region, the Fall 2010 retreat is in Mittelwihr (near Colmar) on the eastern side of the Vosges Mountains. Set along the Route du Vin (Wine Road), it promises a microclimate. Nearby Riquewihr is a walled, well-preserved picturesque medieval market town. Alsace is known for its typical wood framed houses, large black hats and regional specialties. Once the cradle of Humanism, it is a fitting setting for our retreat.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Paris is happy to invite you to attend the Fall Retreat October 29-31 2010. An extraordinary theme speaker, a setting in the historic and beautiful Alsace region and the simple gifts of EUU-Retreat fellowship, fun and music are sure to enrich your lives.
