Armando Manzanero (born 1935 in Mexico) is a singer and songwriter. He's widely considered as the premiere Mexican romantic composer of the postwar era. He released countless LPs and occasionally he also an actor and also composed soundtrack of some Mexican and Spaniard films.
The song "It's Impossible" is the English translation of the Spanish song "Somos Novios" which was the main title of the 1968 Mexican movie with the same name. In this movie Manzanero also acted. The English title of the movie became "In Love and Engaged".
In May 1970 Perry Como recorded this song in English and 1971 it reached position number 10 in the US Billboard and number one on the easy listening charts. Because of the success of the song he then also released an accompanying album with "It's Impossible" as album title. This song also earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance. Como's English version made this song well known so that afterwards many other singers have recorded it.
