Do you remember your first encounter with SRaTSS on the web?

Well, at that time I was searching good old webcrawler and discovered the WEP homepage. Beside that I came across a FAQ written by somebody named Greg Chin. It's a decent FAQ and I guess that's the reason why it was found on most fansites after a while :D

Despite the FAQ Greg did not participate further to the SRaTSS internet fandom and every now and then people would ask about who he is. I've recently received a mail from Greg where he writes about the FAQ and his works in the animation industry...

Hi,
This is Greg Chin.
Yes, I'm the one who wrote the detailed description and FAQ, of the "Saber Rider and the Star Sheriff" animation TV series.

I originally wrote it, in 1991 for a "Saber Rider" tribute website that another friend of mine, named Buddy Rose, put together. He had all of the episodes recorded on videotape, and showed them to me. He lived on the Cape Canaveral, or east coast side of Florida, where the syndicated TV stations were airing the show, in 1985 and so on. During 1991, I lived in Orlando, (the Central Florida area), where they aired "Voltron", but not "Saber Rider". So, when Buddy Rose showed me all the episodes, I was so impressed by the animation for the "Saber Rider" TV series, that we decided that I should write a detailed analysis of the series, since I was working in the animation industry, and speak as an advocate, about the high production values of "Saber Rider".
I did watch all of 52 (I think there's 52 or 56 of them) the "Saber Rider and the Star Sheriff" episodes, from 1985-1986, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters, the technology, the stories, the narrative style, and the lesson epilogue at the end, were so well done. Even today, the animated "Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs" TV series still holds up really well, and is just as good as a modern series, like "The Justice League Unlimited".

Greg Chin - Animation background Information:
I worked at Walt Disney World, and later on, at Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida, where I worked on the film production of: "The Little Mermaid" (1989), "Rollercoaster Rabbit" (Roger Rabbit) (1990) - (See this in the "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" DVD set) "Prince and the Pauper" (1990).- (Mickey and the gang, in old England). See the credits on these films.

Later on, I went on to work at FOX Animation, where I worked on the animated feature films: "Anastasia" (1997),
"Bartok - The Magnificient" (1998), "Titan A.E." (2000) - sci-fi film!, and even "Prince of Egypt" - 1999 (in conjunction with Dream Works Feature Animation). Or do a "Greg Chin" name search on IMdb.com, to see the list of animated films I worked on.

Since most of the old sites are gone, especially Zorina's which -as far as I remember- was the first to actually feature this FAQ, I have provided the file for download. In case you want to read it once again or if you just like to find out what the SRaTSS internet fandom literally looked like back in '96, check out this file. Thanks for your work, Greg!
