The Interface

The APRS-telemetry interface for DIGI_NED has a large number of analog and digital input channels. These values can be sent via the APRS system by DIGI_NED. It is based on a microcontroller AT90S8535 from Atmel.

Properties

• 8 analog input channels.
• 8 digital input lines.
• 8 Inputs for frequency-counters.
• 8 Inputs for frequency counters with average over some time.
• 5 additional digital input lines
  or I2C-Bus interface for expansion of physical input channels
  or 3 inputs for event counters (16 Bit, 16 Bit, 32 Bit)
  or 3 low frequency counters (16 Bit, 16 Bit, 32 Bit)
  or 1 analog comparator
  or the watchdog.
• Serial output of data.
• Watchdog hardware to control the operation of the PC and the interface.
• Command language to control the internal connections between the logical channels of DIGI_NED and the various physical channels of the interface.
• Serial interface to control the internal software.
• External power supply.

The interface is connected to the PC via a standard PC printer cable. So you can place the interface where ever you need it.

Henk, PE1DNN has implemented the addressing expansions since version DIGI_NED030 in his software. This expansion was a proposal of Remko, PE1MEW. This expanded software is completely compatible to the hardware used with older versions.
