The RCEN-Blower

The microcontroller AT90S1200 by Atmel has a built in RC-clockgenerator which is normally disabled. So a crystal is needed to generate the system clock. In many applications the high accuracy of a crystal generator is not needed. Using the RC-generator would be sufficient. The RCEN-bit inside the controller can only be modified using a parallel programmer, but who has such a device. This little project will help to program the RCEN-bit in some milliseconds.

Herbert, DL5NEG has designed this little device and he wrote the software. I took his perfboard construction and placed it onto a normal PCB. The connector for programming the controller is not impemented. Any difference in component values result from my search in my boxes. These parts work in the same way as the original ones.
