quote: "If you just wanted to list a key moment or so from the above-mentioned shows
in which Mike was prominently featured, I would suggest "For the Benefit of Mr.
Kite" from the Rockola Sgt. Pepper show (Escondido CA, 6/1/02), in which Mike played
keys, including the crucial psycho-calliope lick that closes the song." |

May '01 Here's the story:
(Alan Tignanelli)
MK did Sleep Dirt at a clinic w/Rick and Brian, I think from the spring
tour of 2001 (may have been the fall, I'm not sure, and I'm way too lazy
to look it up). I remember him teaching Rick the part as they were
getting ready to play.
(Michael Pierry)
>>Just out of curiosity, how did the cover version end? I mean, did
>>Rick's fingers get stuck, or what? (seriously!)
(Alan Tignanelli)
>Sure, I can't even remember which clinic it was!
(JD Mack)
It was the May 22, 2001 clinic in Sterling, VA. Mike showed Rick that the song
was based on one basic moving chord position, and as they played it, Mike would
call out "Down a 3rd. Up a half step" etc It ended when the chord progression
cycled around, and Mike decided not to take it any farther. |
