picture section
As long as I have more space on this server than I need for my programs and
texts, I thought I'd put some use to my scanner and present you some pictures
of the more interesting items of my video game collection. So take a short
break from programming the VCS and have a look.
-
German label Frogger cart
The picture doesn't show it too well, but the cart case is very similar to those
used by Homevision. Please note the German Parker logo with the "Weltbekannt
durch Monopoly" slogan below it. Compare it to this
Action Man cart, which has the same logo, but as an
extra sticker over the label of a normal Parker cart.
-
Text label Popeye cart
Another strange label Parker cart. This time in a normal case, but with a smaller
text-only label.
-
Missile Control by Video Gems
Here are scans of the box, cart
and manual of this hard to find game. In Germany it
was distributed by Hanimex. Unfortunately the scans don't show the unique cart
case and the nice end label.
-
Surfer's Paradise (but danger below!) by Video Gems
Here are scans of the box, cart
and manual of this hard to find game. In Germany it
was distributed by Hanimex. Unfortunately the scans don't show the unique cart
case and the nice end label.
-
Award badges for the two games above
Video Gems included two award stickers with their games, each showing a different
score to achieve. You could open the front flap of the box and see the badges and
the cart behind different windows. Above the sticker windows it read "Good
scores should be rewarded." and below them it said "Wear your badge of
honor. You earned it!".
-
Japanese Realsports Tennis cart
Here are scans of the frontside and the
backside of the box. Please note the DM price sticker,
which means that this game must have been sold in a German store. This is strange,
because the cart is the normal NTSC version, which doesn't work too well on a German PAL
VCS. On the outside the manual looks just like the box, therefore I have scanned a
text page from the inside.
-
Angriff der Termiten by Commavid
This is the German version of Cosmic Swarm. The box
has a sticker with the German name on it. Please note the much simpler grahics in the
manual. For completeness here is also a picture of the
oversized cartridge.
-
Zaxxon by CBS and Coleco
Ever wondered how different the European CBS releases of Coleco's VCS games are?
Here are scans of Zaxxon carts and
boxes in both versions for a side by side comparison.
Please note that the CBS cart is upside down, as that is how the text on the labels
is applied. Also note that the Coleco box is a little sun-faded and doesn't represent
the actual colours.
