+ + + Important Informations - 4th Shortfilmfestival Oberschöneweide 2010 + + +
The most interesting short film festival resides in southeast of Berlin, Oberschöneweide. After our one year break we now hope to present many exciting films, from 12. Nov. 2010 & 13. Nov. 2010 in the ''Kino Spreehöfe Wilhelminenhofstrasse'' theater.
It's mostly a financial problem that forces a cultural project to stop. If there's a shortage of money, even the best intentions won't help to organize a festival of that size, no matter if it's desired by the owners, shortfilmers or audience.
But thanks to a financial aid from the Bureau of Cultural Affairs Köpenick the festival is able to proceed this year. So one reason to rejoice again, when it states in november: "We are opening a showcase of international and local filmmaking in the southeast of Berlin and offer a presentation platform for innovative, surprising and creative film ideas.
The focus this year is animation.Animation is an artistic form of contemporary computer-generated character. The reflection of global issues, as well as the processing of poetic texts in visual metaphors, opens up a new approach to questions that couldn't be answered otherwise, because of emerging problems throughout the world. Friday, 12/11/2010 starting 20:00, the attention focusses on the submitted animated short films, which make sophisticated statements about world events, but also show interpersonal values, like love, mutuality and honesty.
As in previous years, we also approach the younger filmmakers that will have the chance to show especially produced films. This idea has proven successful and set a precedent. Because now, also large film festivals show films that have been produced by children for quite some time. We are all the more pleased about this fact, because there are great youth media projects across Europe, who have produced wonderful films that deserve to be shown. The submissions will be shown on Saturday afternoon and the best film will receive a trophy. A little brother of ''Volker'', our counterpart our film prize of the famous Oscar. In addition, the cinema operator Miss Weller will come up with another "prize candy".
On the evening of 13/11/2010 all the short film genres are being sent into contest. There we'll present the best film submissions to the public and a jury. Here you can find many international works, creative productions from free filmmakers beyond the mainstream. After a brief discussion of the jury, we'll hand out ''Volker'', designed by Lady Ballooon, directly in the cinema to the winning filmmaker with with great éclat. All Shortfilms, with a duration up to 20 minutes, independent from genre, technical skill and budget, can be turned in until 2nd October 2010 at KFF OSW Berlin.

The KFF OSW 2010 - 4th International Short Film Festival Oberschöneweide is organized by Tamara Dauenhauer, Ulrike Hoffmann, Peter Nussbaumer and Josephine Seeger. Much to our regret we must accept, that Janet Güttel, who was also an initiator of the KFF OSW idea, is no longer in the orga team. We are all the more pleased to be able to show her newest short film at our festival, because directing shortfilms is her true profession.
