Who is Flominator?
 |
My real name is Florian, but everyone just calls me Flo. I was born on January 18th in 1982 as the only child of my parents. I live on the Ramselehof which is a small farm in the Black Forest. It's about 5 kilometres away from Hinterzarten, Germany. I think I'm OK, unless I sleep at least six hours a night. If not, it will be pretty hard to spend your time with me on the next day.

After 14 years of school, I did my civil alternative service (in German: Zivildienst) in a youth hostel near Titisee.
In September I started an apprenticeship with the Deutsche Telekom. I'm being trained there on computer engineering. The german expression for that is F.I.S.I. (Fachinformatiker - Fachrichtung Systemintegration). I really enjoy working there, because my collegues are nice and there a lots of IT-challenges to master.
If you want to know more about some friends of mine, then I suggest you take a short look on my German links.
Hobbies
I have a lot of hobbies: I started working with model railways but I stopped some years ago, since there was lack of money and time. I've also been collecting stamps since I've found the old stamp album of my father when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Although I still collect them, I haven't had the tim to sort them for years.
My biggest hobby there is, there was and that there will be is music. I mean listening to music, not making music. My favourite band is Bon Jovi. I own all albums and I've seen them live for three times: Stuttgart '96, Ludwigshafen 2000 and Stuttgart '01. For more infos about Bon Jovi checkout Ismir's Site.
The first CD I bought was the single "Go West" by the Pet Shop Boys and since that day I've been collecting music. I love listening to all kinds of music, but most of my favourite music has been released in the 80ies. I'm also into rock music. For more details about my musical taste take a look on the music section.
My other big hobby are computers. I love making websites, doing Excel sheets, writing emails or just surfing the net. You want to know how it went on until present day? See below:
"My virtual existence"
I got my first computer when I was about 13. It was an 80386 with only 640kB of RAM and no CD-Rom drive. I bought it from the money I got on my First Communion. There were only some old games (namely "Jill Of Jungle", "Mario Brothers", "Blues Brothers" and "Brix") on it which I played all the time. The only one I really played through was "Jill Of Jungle".
My cousin installed me a copy of "Microsoft Works 4.0" for DOS some day, since there was no windows on my PC. Some time later I started typing the German, US and UK charts into my computer, but when I had almost one complete year, the disc it was on was infected by a virus and I lost all data. That was the time when I decided, to rely on my HD instead of stupid floppies. I was also very happy when my parents bought me a dot matrix printer from Epson on christmas.
I did a lot of things on that machine but mostly I only played games. One more game I played through was Commander Keen 4. I did it without saving, but it was not because I was so brave, but because I didn't know about that feature of the game.
I learned some things while I was doing them, but it was frustrating to see that all my friends had much bigger "machines" than my PC. I informed myself of the possibilities of upgrading it, but it was too late. It would have costed about half the money you would have needed to buy a new PC. After annoying my parents for about half a year, I finally made them buy me a new PC. This was a real high tech machine (at least in those days *gg) with Windows 95 and 16MB of RAM, not to mention the CD-Rom drive ...
