Istanbul Xmas Event, 1 to 4-DEC-2005

page 3:  a visit to a carpet shop and dinner cruise between europe and asia

No visit to Turkey is complete without visiting a carpet shop or a carpet factory.  So it could not be avoided that we also went to a carpet shop :-)

This shop was especially interesting as it had an old cistern in the basement.  Nowadays, the cistern is used as an exhibition hall.

This picture is not by Sam Francis!

Later, it was time for business:  With some explanations about the different carpets and some raki, we were animated to have a look at the carpets and possibly buy one.  I think that most (all?) of us resisted (not the raki but the carpets :-)

In the evening, it was time for a dinner cruise between europe and asia.

The Xmas gifts were already set up in the saloon of the ship.

nice view from the boat

yes, the boat was moving a little :-)  This is the bridge between Europe and Asia

After a nice dinner, it was xmas present time!  Patrick first welcomes not only one but three Santa Claus who each brought some xmas greetings in different languages!

The Santa Clauses even danced for us!

Big applause from the crowd

Handing out the presents...

...including the event version of the xmas special:

The Xmas special 2005 is packaged in a slightly different packaging, it is grey instead of white and it features the club logo on the box.

After a wonderful evening, it was time for a group picture:
