the new anime from Hayao Miyazaki can be seen in cinema in germany at last.

the story of the young warrior ashitaka facinated millions of people. now we can expect, that the disney blessed audience is althogh tight in the magic spell of princess mononoke.

the chances are good. here the anime is downright celebrated. in it´s highest degree.

the setting is japan ... as the gods were among us.

ashitaka, a young warrior meets one of those gods.

the god of the animals in the shape of a boar is captured by furiousness and threatens the village of ashitaka. he sees no other way out and kills the god of the animals. there is no aftermath. he is bansihed with the bane the boar was banished with. an uncontrollably intoxycation consisting of hate, pain and desperation claims his tribute. he leaves his home and searches the reasons and a way of healing through the highest god of the animals shishihgami.

his journey leads through a forbidden forest, the village tatara to the ghostprincess mononoke ... a girl which leads regulary battles against the villagers and the chief eboshi-gozen.

the anime is no trashy myth with a raised forefinger but a complex, lovingly animated masterpiece. they resigned any effects which might look more comfortable to the public. the film gets his magic above all from the tranquil scenes. the wonderful score of joe hisaishi is a grand "goodby present" to all who haven´t forgot how to dream. thankas a lot!
