North American Shagya-Araber Society

Shagya-Arabian breeding in
NASS is the only North American member of the International Shagya-Araber Gesellschaft (ISG) which is the international body supporting the breeding and preservation of the Shagya-Arabian breed.

The purposes of NASS are as follows:
Shagyas-Arabians were relatively
unknown in
NASS carries out its role by maintaining the
Shagya-Arabian Registry of North America (SHARONA).
SHARONA is affiliated with the International
Shagya-Arabian Society (ISG) and is recognized by the ISG as the
only North American registry for Shagya-Arabians,
Part-Shagya-Arabians and Part-Shagyas.
NASS also organizes and conducts inspection tours. To be eligible for Shagya-Arabian breeding, mares and stallions must be approved by a panel of ISG qualified judges invited by NASS. NASS inspection tours were conducted in 1989, 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2003. The next inspection is scheduled in 2006. In addition, NASS offers an awards program for the following categories:
Please be advised that there have been changes to the publications of the North American Shagya-Arabian Society: the annual NASS NEWS and the NASS Quarterly Update newsletter. Henceforth, the "NASS Quarterly Update" will be called "SHAGYA NEWS" "NASS Update" and dated ( i.e. Spring/Summer 2005) and will be issued three times a year, encompassing the material in the annual NASS NEWS. In years of a NASS Breeding Approval Inspection there will be a fourth "SHAGYA NEWS" issued in glossy format dedicated to the inspection and called "The Inspection Issue". SHAGYA NEWS will continue to be designed to keep NASS members informed on a timely basis of current news of the NASS organization, its members, & NASS' parent organization, the ISG. Please feel free to submit articles of interest, farm news, performance news, pictures, classifieds and advertising. We welcome NASS members participation, ideas and comments.
