Speleology
Protecting caves
Not fortuitously, this topic is arranged in very first place here.
In almost every cave which I had visited up to now, I detected marks of human intervention.
That is for example:
- throwing down refuse heedlessly
- soot of torches or camp fires
- truncated dripstones
- scraws on rock faces not from the Stone Age ;-)
Caves are much more sensible than it first appears.
Therefore, the visitor of a cave must behave especially considerately. The following guide lines were created by American speleologists:
- Take nothing but pictures !
- Leave nothing but footprints !
- Kill nothing but time !
- Destroy nothing !
