Igor Wroblewski
Igor
Wroblewski aka Arp Decade, born in 1981 in Wroclaw, Poland. After his
philosophy studies he is now writing a dissertation on the free will of
human beings and what philosophical methods can contribute to the
current debate.
Since
his early childhood he learned several instruments by himself, especially synthesizers and guitar. Today he
concentrates mainly on electronic music inspired by the most classical artists
of this genre like Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream, but also
appreciates Pete Namlook very much - as well as most of the artists
collaborating with him: Tetsu Inoue, Steve Stoll, Bill
Laswell, to name only a few of them. Other
artists who had great influence on Arp Decade's music are such diverse
artists as Björk, Tori Amos, Mylene Farmer, Deine Lakaien,
Depeche Mode, Antony and the Johnsons,
Alexander Skriabin...
Arp Decade's most important focus is to try to
"translate" the atmosphere of (mainly symbolistic) paintings into
sounds - "Max Klinger's Tunnel" and "Degouve's Nocturne" are such
try-outs. Arp Decade is also working on "sunnier" and occasionally
"dancier" projects: he makes funk-house-lounge experiments together
with LiveWireBeats.
As far as filming is concerned, he mainly stands behind the camera and
does the musical part for KIss My Arp, Karolina, but also does his own
projects which are characterized by slow motion pictures and
concentration on atmosphere rather than plot and action.
Karolina Brocka
Karolina
Brocka aka Kiss My Arp, Karolina, the leader of
InsideOutsideProductions, born in 1982, Tuebingen, Germany. She studies
German and History. In her works (writings as well as films) she
combines such themes as solitude, flâneurie, relativity of
being and nonexistence, specific ways of seeing the world, love as well
as
death. The latter subject plays indeed an important role in her
impressions; Karolina had been always interested in
cemeteries, until now she took great many photos of these placid spots
all over the world. She is in general the main actress in
InsideOutsideProductions' videoclips and is occasionally play-acting
(until now, with The Provisional Players and ArsBeneAgendi).
As
far as music is concerned, Karolina is inspired by virtually all
artists, who in the first place conceive unfamiliar atmosphere, tell
stories and play with unexpected sounds (whereby their the voices -
when present - are expressiv and tend towards harshness, anger,
unusualness instead of forming "just another melody"): Björk,
Antony and the Johnsons, Tori Amos, Pati Yang, Lisa Germano, David Bowie, last but not least Zam Helga.
Karolina's
latest project is the bitter-serene-fairytale videoclip made to Allca's
moving piece of music "Zima" ("Winter"). She is also responsible for
the visual outfit of Arp Decade's debut production "The Glove", where
she also took the voice parts on "Dreamflakes" (first single, enhanced
with video) and "A Few Minutes After Nettle Affair".
