The Hillhouse Resort is situated on top of the hills above Bau-Bau,
3 km from the town centre, on Buton Island, Indonesia.
Our Resort is situated in the middle of a huge, green garden.
You have an amazing, wonderful view over the city, the sea, the strait, Muna Island,
and the jungle-covered hills around.
The bungalows are made of wood, and everything is especially made to fit tourists needs.
The rooms have moskitonets and are very clean and furnitured comfortably.
Get yourself a free coffee or tea,
sit on the balconies, under the pavillon, in the hammocks, sunbeds and armchairs.
Take a sunbath or relax in a shady, peaceful place in the garden.
You can visit an old dutch fortress situated on the hills under the Resort.
It is a 5 minutes walk down the hill on the road to the city.
The fortress with its walls and towers was restored recently.
There is also a museum in the fortress with private stuff and pictures of the royal family.
A few miles north of town is the beautiful 'tirta rimba' waterfall.
It is lying idyllically in the jungle.
The young local people go there for bathing since the water is sweet and cool.
South of Bau-Bau is the famous dreamlike Nirvana Beach,
with white sand, palms, a few small shops with drinks and food.
Take a sunbath, swim, snorkel, walk,
and have a cold drink in the shady places under the palms.
In the evening, visit the fabulous night-market at the harbour of Bau-Bau.
And get yourself some fresh fish barbecue.
A taxi from the harbour is 10.000 Rupies.
If the driver does not know "Hillhouse Resort" or "Highland Garden Resort",
tell him to go to the fortress 'Benteng Wolio'.
Drive straight through, up the hill, and you will see the resort at the left side of the road
on top of the hill.
A room is 100.000 Rupies a day.
Breakfast is included, as well as tea and coffee.
