Heliamphora nutans (giant)

H. nutans origintes from the Tepuis in South America. These plants experience harsh highland weather conditions and they like similar conditions as some highland nepenthes. They often grow in very open habitats and they look best when grown with very high light levels. Under lower light levels the pitcher shape would change and also the colouration would be much less. On the following photo two pitchers produced under different light levels can be seen.

The left one was produced under very high light levels, and the shape as well as the colouration is much different to the right one. Especially the hood only forms under good conditions. Given a considerable drop of temperatures by night and misting the pitchers every few days H. nutans is easy to grow.
