Nepenthes lowii (G. Trusmadi)

Nepenthes lowii is a quite slow growing species. This plant from G. Trusmadi produces about one new leaf and pitcher in two months. The right picture shows a nearly three year old plant from TC in a 10cm pot. The left picture of the same plant in an smaller 6.5cm pot was taken 18 months earlier. The pitchers of this plant are way to small and also the lids didn't form properly. This is due to the low humidity I had in my terrarium prior to taking the picture. After increasing the humidity level above 80% the plant pitchered nicely again, as can be seen on the pictures below.

The fully developed lower Pitcher on the right picture already shows the long bristles under the lid which are even more prominent in upper pitchers. Even though being small in size with only about 10cm in height this pitcher already looks very spectacular.

Nepenthes lowii (G. Mulu)

My Nepenthes lowii clone frum G. Mulu initially did grow considerably faster than the Trusmadi clone during summer. New leafes and pitchers were produced about every four to five weeks as can be seen from the images above. The left one was taken when I got this plant. After about four months it had already produced four new leafes. With lower temperatures in winter this clone slowed down to the typical growth rate for N. lowii, so there seems to be no big difference.
