Nepenthes tentaculata

N. tentaculata is a higland plant growing in mossy forrest. Beacause of this very high humidity is needed for N. tentaculata to pitcher well. Upper pitchers are only produced very occasionally under my conditions due to the low humidity in my terrarium. The best soil is pure living Sphagnum moss. Initially I grew this species in my normal soil mix (Peat Moss, Sand, Lecaton, Kork, etc.) where it didn't do well. This N. tentaculata from My. Kinabalu is a scrambling plant with a thin and flexible stem. My plant flowered for the first time after 3.5 years being about one meter tall.

This basal offshot emerged after about four years of growth. The pitcher to leaf ratio is very nice with a pitcher about 4.5cm growing on a small leaf measuring only 2cm.

The second clone of N. tentaculata I'm growing also originates from Borneo (AFAIK). The size of this plant is smaller in allrespects and also the colour is not as brown as the clone from Mt. Kinabalu shown above.
