Algeria
Origin:
Most prisoners belonged to the Africa corps and came from Tunisia. After a short stay they were shipped to Australia and Canada or submitted to the USA and then transported to the United States. After that date came soldiers to Algeria who became prisoner in Italy.

Situation:
The camps were generally transit stations although they got improved to semi permanent camps later. The camps offered good conditions and the medical supply was done in hospital No. 99. 1945 all camps were closed.

Custody powers:
After the prisoners were transported from Tunisia to Algeria in 1943, about 261.500 men were in Algerian camps and from this number were 125.000 Germans. They were in custody of following nations:
80.000 USA
17.000 France
28.000 Great Britain
