| The British transported the few prisoners they made at the beginning of the fights in North Africa from Egypt to Latrun, 25 km west-northwest of Jerusalem. The camp was bombed on July 2nd, 1941 in which a German officer died and 11 were hurt. Two officers smuggled a report of the bad conditions of life and the Jewish guards out of the camp to the OKW (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht/supreme command of the armed forces) whereupon reprisals against a POW-camp in Cholm were imposed in 1943. The prisoners were already mid of 1941 back in Egypt presumable. |
