The prisoners were held by the British.

Capture:
In the beginning most prisoners belonged to the Africa corps. After a short stay they were shipped to Australia and Canada or submitted to the USA and then transported to the United States. After this came Soldiers to Algeria who became prisoner in Italy.

Situation:
The camps were generally just transit stations like in Algeria. If they weren't transported immediately they came into the camp No. 205/Kassar Said nearby Tunis. Sick persons were aided in the hospital No. 166 or in the field hospital at Birine. The last prisoners in Tunisia were transferred to Algeria in spring 1944.
