14.12. Still in Mittenwald. Waiting for exchange of prisoners between occupation zones. Start shall be 18 December.
15.12. Got 2 cards from my parents dated 4. and 6.12. All are healthy. Josef is in Ami-custody in France. Got an card from uncle Johan at 15.12.45, he is well also. I can't write due to some measures taken by the Ami camp staff. Still no message from Liesel.
16.12. Wrote to parents. Letter not send yet. Have to figure out how to get the letter out of the camp. Paper is badly needed.
19.12. Got 1 parcel from parents. Content: prunes, dried fruit, machine for cigarettes, 1 cigar, tobacco, no letter
20.12. Got 1 parcel from parents. Content: dried fruit, Christmas-cookies, 1 pipe, 20 Marks, tobacco, cigarette paper. Have no latter paper anymore. I desperately need to write. Allegedly Christmas they organize something special. I'm curious. Today I've had enough food since a long time. My eye is swelling, if it doesn't turn better I have to go to a doctor. The abscess is open and heals slowly, until Christmas it will be better. I'm tired today. I'm sure that comes from the unaccustomed labor. 
21.12. No news today. Same as everyday. Want to write today. Letter to parents still not posted.
22.12. Didn't go to the Polish command today. Make already Christmas holidays. Since 3 or for days I'm very tired in my legs. The weather can be causation. The snow melted. It is nice weather. Today came parcels, none for me. No message from Liesel until now. Wrote a Red Cross card for a 2kg-parcel.
23.12. No news. No parcels and no mail. In the evening 1/6 mildewed bread as addition. Examination of the rooms by the camp command with allocation of awards. We got nothing. 
24.12. Christmas Eve. Presents: 1 plait loaf or stollen, 2 packets tobacco, 2 razor blades, 2 matches, 2,1oz sugar, 3,5oz coffee, 1 cigaret paper, no mail, no parcel, 2 cigars. No hot meal today. Let's see what will happen tomorrow. Have eaten the plate and sugar at once and I'm full now. 10 cigarettes and 1 bun is remaining, that were the Christmas presents.
25.12. Slept until 10 o' clock. Duty at 1 pm. Wrote letter to parents an Liesel. The cigarettes are not good, they are too strong. Wrote letter to Liesel and Uncle Johann. Further no news. Snowfall in the evening.
26.12. It is snowing the whole day. Slept until 10 o'clock. Wrote a letter to my parents. Karl Schmidt is a work mate of Liesel. 
27.12. Snow and rain. The pioneers have to get ready. Rumors again I think. Today mail arrived but nothing for me.

29.12. Get read for the transport. No transport today. Got checked by a doctor. Alleged dismissal at Monday. Snowfall in the evening.
30.12. Snowfall in the morning. Tomorrow we get released. It is true. I'm very happy to be a free man soon. Got 1 can of cookies for 15 men. Also today no mail. Cause I get released tomorrow I need no mail anymore. 
31.12. New Years eve. Six years ago at New Years eve I met Liesel  If all is OK I will marry very soon. Today should be the dismissal but it will take until Wednesday 02.01. But it is sure that we get released. It becomes true. The Ami placed trucks around the camp to light it up and no prisoner is able to escape. But none thinks about short before our repatriation. Mood is bad. I will go to bet about midnight. Would prefer to be with Liesel now. Six years ago it was nicer. That times will come again. Looking forward to see my loved ones. I hope Jupp will come back soon.
01.01.1946 New year. No news today, still no repatriation. Thought with longing on Liesel and you all. Especially my thoughts went to Josef. How it's going with him? I hope he is healthy?

04.01. Got a letter from my parents dated from 10.12. including the address of Josef. Soldat Josef Hahn, Kriegsgefangenen Nr. 316-1018597 HQ 1571 LAB. SUPER V.C.Q. 8250 LABSERN. CQ4 T.H. LABOR SUPER-VISION AREA. AP8.5620.S.ARMY. Will write to Josef right after I'm free. Still wait for  repatriation cause we have to color our clothes black first. But that will last eight days only. Then we will be free and I'll try to reach my hometown first.
05.01. Got letter from my parents dated from 17.12., all are well, still no mail from Liesel. Have to await what will come. Not as cold anymore. Today our clothes were picked up for coloring. At Monday repatriation will start. Still no message of Liesel. I'm in worry. 
06.01. Epiphany. No news.
07.01. Finally got a letter from Liesel. She had to bear misery in the past. Her mother died at 20. October. At 30 December she got the notice that Karl died at 26 October 1944. Poor Liesel. But very soon the day will come when I'm with you. Today the first get repatriated. Tomorrow it will be my turn.
08.01. Finally - it is true. At 2 pm we were free humans. At 4 pm from Mittenwald to Munich. At 7.45 pm from Munich to Augsburg. 
09.01. Got stamps for three days. Departure from Augsburg to Stuttgart. Wrote letter to parents and Liesel.
