| A postcard written in Camp Swift from Hauptfeldwebel Helmut R. to his parents which shows that in 1944 some were convinced that the war will be won by Germany
My dear parents! Some sentences to you again. I can't report any news; nothing special happens here - camp life is absolutely boring. I' am interested in nothing else than school. I give no attention to the news reaching us. We are sure, nevertheless what the future brings und what we have to bare; Germany will be victorious. Only that I have to sit here and cannot help in this hard and fateful days to the final victory is sad for me. I am in a good condition and I hope the same of you. What is Erich doing? Sincere greetings across the sea yours Helmut. |
