Atelier Berbiga - A tribute to young German art

Welcome to Atelier Berbiga - a spot in Berlin where Klaus Froese, a young German artist, creates pictures of a unique style. In fact, Froese does not belong to any specific school or movement, permitting himself a certain degree of independence. Located in Berlin-Mitte, the center from which young German art has been emerging for a decade, Klaus Froese presents a variety of works to the viewer, who is invited to join some flights of fancy to unknown worlds of fantastic, surrealist creatures. The visitor would be astonished by the beauty of romantic landscapes, as well as by the majestic representation of Spanish architecture - including monuments such as the world-famous Alhambra. Froese's pictures would make you feel the smell of Spain, breathe the air of Andalusia, relish the elegance in a violent bullfight.
The landscapes are contrasted by the smog of industrial towns and factories in the middle of a jungle. The Baudelairean sujet of the never-sleeping city is treated in Berbiga as well as the arduous work on the factory wheels, represented as an idealized site of incessant movement.
Bewilderment might be the initial response to Froese's account of the biblical story of Salomé, integrated as it is into a statement on the superiority of Italian cuisine. And naturally, Froese addresses the most important event of 2006 in Germany: the Soccer World Cup. As a tribute to this unique spectacle, talking balls reflect the fans' excitement over the game and every scored point:
