First of all I want to make sure you understand that Eta Games is only a hobby label and "Eta" is a Greek letter.
All games (or other stuff) being published by Eta Games are hobby projects and are not planned to stand in a commercial context. I create these games in order to learn the whole thing (or at least to have an idea of it): designing the game, programming the source, creating graphics, ... you know: All stuff that is done by more than one person in most cases. Additionally, I have great support by my friends; eg. creating things like music (thanks Timo) and some 3d models (thanks Hessi) for the games.
What I think is important about games:
Games - not only computer games, but all games - are a great (or perhaps the best) medium to teach you. I don't want to express that they help you to learn how to interpret
a poem or how to derivate a function (although it might be possible to create a game that achieves this). Games can teach you logical thinking, you can be creative, ...
Some people are convinced that computer games lead to social isolation. Tell me: Why not take some friends and play together?! There are loads of games that can be played in groups. Some of my projects are targeted for this audience: groups of people that want to play with or against each other - and this doenst mean to kill each other in the game. I dislike brute violence, none of my games will be about killing people or comparable things.
Another great thing you can do with games is to tell a really good story, as good as a film or book can do it (although most games don't manage to do so) and even better, because it is interactive - the player can not only imagin what will happen next, but also make this decission himself. I think this is what it makes so hard to create a really good narrating adventure game.
So.. have fun with my games and enjoy this homepage.
