Before starting my studies, I gained first practical experience as an intern with Quint – Stahl- und Metallbau
GmbH, a small metalworking company in my hometown Bingen. I spent six weeks there, learning different
metalworking processes like cutting, joining, coating and forming. Although my work was initially limited to
minor drilling, grinding and sawing tasks in the workshop, I later worked on various construction sites, too.
This "basic internship" was also a prerequisite for admission to university in Brunswick, Germany, and I
prepared weekly reports of my activities which were considered and approved by the Technical University.
Prior to my Diplom thesis, I completed a second internship with Bertrandt Ingenieurbüro GmbH in
Ingolstadt, where I supported different project teams and was entrusted with project documentation
and coordination assignments. In this way, I not only became familiar with the engineering
consultants' day-to-day business, but also satisfied the requirement of the "engineering internship"
aimed at deepening and broadening the knowledge I had gained during the basic internship and
my university courses.
After completing my Diplom degree of industrial engineering and management, I started my career as an
eCommerce coordinator
for Brand Felt Ltd. in Toronto, Canada. While there, I supported the company in
expanding its eCommerce operations. I evaluated and selected appropriate online retailers, and I was also
responsible for data management and electronic customer service. Through these activities, I not only gained
in-depth sales experience but also familiarised myself with the North American (and especially the Canadian)
way of doing business.
