Maybe you want to know a little bit about the Duchesse of the
Moonlight-Shadowcastle. So sit down, relax and listen. Do you want a
glass of red wine?
Well, you may wonder, but I was born as Catherine van Helsing. My mother
was the daughter of the famous vampire-hunter Abraham van Helsing. The
story of my mother is a sad story. She fell in love with a vampireīs
servant whose master was the Prince of London. This servant became my
father. He was killed by his master before I was born, because the dark
Prince was attracted by my mother. For the despair of my grandfather, the
Prince of London gave my mother the immortal kiss after I was born. My
grandfather didnīt rest until he staked them both and released the soul
of his beloved daughter.
So I was brought up and educated by my grandfather. I studied
Anthropology and Occultism and was initiated into the secrets of
vampire-hunting. When my grandfather died I proceeded his work but I did
it my own way and with new methods. I always had the wish to understand
the vampires soul, to make an interview with a vampire. After years of
searching the right interview-partner I found a vampire in Toronto who
worked in human society as a cop in the homicide-department and called
himself Nick Knight.
Interview with a charming vampire
Oh mon dieu he was a very charming man and I asked myself if I could
ever terminate such a wonderful, handsome, intelligent and sensitive
being? I learned that the 20th century vampire isnīt a slaughtering,
evil monster. They live among us, they are working with us, some of them
have mortal friends.
Now Iīm Duchesse de Brabant
All the statements my grandfather taught me about vampires faded away. I
was fascinated by the sweet tragic of the vampire existence. The
loneliness, the emptyness, the bad conscience. And at the end I had to
admit to myself that I had fallen in love with a vampire. I had the mad
idea to redeem him from his darkness.
Nick felt an unusual soulbonding to me and made the rare offer to give
me the immortal kiss. My love made me crazy enough to say yes. I went to
my grandfatherīs grave and asked him for forgiveness. I said farewell
to the sunlight, to the colours and the whole life of the day and
entered the realm of darkness forever.
Nick told me that he was born as Nicholas de Brabant in the year 1200
and that I have the right to take his name.
So the vampire-hunter Catherine van Helsing became the vampire Catherine
de Brabant.

As my vampire-father Nicholas was responsible for my behaviour and my
acting as a young, unexperienced vampire. He was responsible to
introduce me in vampire-society and had to help me to find my place
there. But a few weeks after I received the kiss, he abandoned me and
walked away. He could never feel love for me or any other being, his
heart is full of darkness.
My heart was full of grief and sorrow. Fortunately my
vampire-grandfather Lucien LaCroix, the prince of Toronto, took me under
his protection and helped me to establish in vampire-society.
