Check
out this great video at adventure.tv about Uganda
Uganda
might not be perfect - but it is far away from being just
a dark place in the middle of Africa. Winston Churchill characterised
Uganda even as the "Pearl of Africa" and he named
it herewith in a perfect way. Uganda offers you not only a
beautiful landscape with many opportunities to explore mother
nature with a huge variety of species, but also the hospitality
of Ugandan people. This friendliness will provide you with
a very warm welcome and you will cherish the memories of your
stay in Uganda.
But
it is not only a country full of beautiful plants, wild animals
and friendly people - it is also a country of growth, strength
and enormous efforts. Kampala is a cosmopolitan metropole
full of skyscrapers and busy traffic, full of restaurants,
cafés and pubs, full of possibilities to enjoy oneselves
and getting busy. Uganda offers you the possibility to view
the biggest nationalparks in Africa, the best places to watch
animals like gorillas, lions or birds. You can follow all
sorts of hobbies like mountaineering, fishing or studying
on African culture. Uganda is also a modern type country with
discotheques and hip hop joints. The music scene is huge and
you will be surprised by lugandan rap music and dancing contests.
Nonetheless
we will not hide that Uganda is still on a rough road. Headwords
are HIV/AIDS, war or poverty. We do not deny those circumstances
and that there is still alot to do. Even though first steps
are done, the work has to continue. Money is still needed,
donations are still necessary and international help is still
required.
Uganda
was once famous for Idi Amin and HIV/AIDS. The time of Idi
Amin is long time over. These days the horrifying name of
terror is Joseph Kony who is killing thousands of people from
southern Sudan, he is kidnapping children, stealing their
future by training them to soldiers or using them as sex slaves.
This is still a scenario of horror and the international community
is asked to handle better yesterday than tomorrow. If you
personally want to help - there are several possibilities
to donate to help the people in the north.
The
other headword is HIV/AIDS. In this field - the first steps
have worked very well. In Uganda the number of HIV-infection
has decreased by 70 % since the early 90s of the last century.
Reasons for this is a nationwide campaign for protection.
Not only the use of condoms, even more the decrease of sexual
contacts outside a relationship by 60 % have led to the following
figures: 1991 21,1 % of pregnant ladies were HIV-positive,
in the year 2000 only 6 %. In the capital Kampala and other
cities, the number of HIV-positive young people has reduced
by 75 % within the age group of 15-19 years and by 60 % within
the group of 20-24 years (see http://www.sciencemag.org/).
Profound information and steady investment has led to this
progress. Nonetheless we should not forget the ones who are
not so lucky and who need our help. We can help them by donating
into their future, by building schools, giving them a home,
a safe place to grow up, a country to work for and jobs to
make the economy strong and able to invest again in their
people.
If
you feel like helping - you can donate in numerous projects,
i.e. for HIV/AIDS-orphans, for war refugees or for agricultural
measurements.
And
you can also invest in this beautiful country by exploring
that the biggest part of Uganda will offer you a touristical
paradise. We offer you the possibility to have a first view
on this country - truly "The Pearl of Africa".
