Prospective members accepted by the Crown may choose either Knighthood, if they are willing to place themselves in fealty to the Crown of Meridies, or Mastery-at-Arms, if they are not. | ||

Purple Bead |
This is an award of special dignity and honor, to recognize those who through continuous exemplary service and dedication have greatly enriched the Shire. Recipients of this award are the pillars of the Shire, true leaders and role models. Those individuals have improved the medieval experience of the Shire by regular teaching and sharing of their knowledge. They have consistently displayed courtesy and chivalry in an exemplary manner, above and beyond those efforts normally required of the populace. Note: This award comes with a specially commissioned scroll for each recipient.

The Order of Precedence |
| The order of precedence for the Kingdom Awards is like a
"ranking"-system - the Order of the Velvet Owl, for instance,
"shall process ahead of the Baronial Awards of Arms", whereas
the Order of the Argent Comet "shall process ahead of simple Award
of Arms and behind members of Baronial Service Orders". There are several awards which fall into the same category, and this leads to the following list of the Order of Precedence : |

From Device to Arms to Achievement |
| For those of you out there, who are still a little bit fuzzy on the whole heraldic concept of devices, arms, supporters and the like, here is a pictorial explanation. |
| When you join the SCA, you register your personal device - which is
nothing more than a shield with some more or less colorful charges on it
:

| When you receive your Award of Arms (AoA), your simple device become
your "Arms" and you can augment them with a helmet, a mantle,
a crest and a wreath :

| If you are instated into an order, you can show this in your arms, too
(in this example it is the Order of the Velvet Owl and the Order of the
Argent Comet) :

| With a Grant Of Arms (GoA), you have the right to augment a single
supporter to what is now called your "Achievement" :

| If you even are a Baron, you can augment the whole thing with a
"Baronial Coronet" :
