SGP i kombinert Sommer 04

… 1785 km and a damaged door in my new car...

(man muss schon gehörig einen an der Waffel haben)

SGP i kombinert started for Team Norway in Oberstdorf as part of a trainingscamp throughout middle Europe. The first competition was held on Su., 15.08.04. The guys showed spectacular jumps. Petter Tande, who likes the big hill in Oberstdorf, won his first jumping competition ever, while Espen Rian proved his exceptional jumping skills in the last jump. Unfortunately he couldn’t stand this jump. In the end Petter Tande finished as 3rd, after the impressing Americans Todd Lodwick and Johnny Spillane. Kristian Hammer passed the line as 14th with Sunday’s 2nd best running time. The following places: Magnus Moan 35th, Håvard Klemetsen 36th, Jan Rune Grave 41st, Ola Morten Græsli 46th.

Having enjoyed the great weather that day, our evening ended with a game of minigolf (which Sabrina won ;)!).

Frode Moen and his boys used the following days to train on the World Championships hills for 2005. We had some funny days in Oberstdorf…with cycling, shopping... the SGP went on in and to Bischofshofen – and so did we. After an accidental stop in Starnberg due to girls driving (for Espen: the orientation, not the speed!!), we arrived in Bischofshofen on Wednesday afternoon. The competition in Bischofshofen was Mass Start 10 km on HS 140. The weather was real kåt on Friday but it changed completely over night. Bischofshofen, by the way, is an odd place ;). Every action took place on the crossing and the nearby main street , which was in building. You never know whom you meet in the middle of the night…where there were more people on tour than at daytime! The people at the hill were very friendly, too og hadde mange gaver for oss :). On competition day it was raining, but it was nevertheless exciting to watch the Mass Start and the following jumps. Espen Rian ended up 2nd, just behind Todd Lodwick. Petter Tande impressed again with a 4th place, Magnus Moan finished as 8th. Håvard Klemetsen became 16th and also Kristian Hammer earned some points with 28th place. Ola Morten Græsli finished as 33rd, Jan Rune Grave as 36th. Unfortunately we couldn´t stay for the price giving ceremony as our hotel in Berchtesgaden closed its doors at 21.30 h. So we had to leave directly after the competition.

(man muss schon gehörig einen an der Waffel haben....)

The next competition in Berchtesgaden should be a team competition. Team Norway 1, Petter Tande and Magnus Moan, lead after the first jumping round as result of good jumps, but Petter Tande showed some nerves in his 2nd jump and they ended up as 3rd after jumping. This was also the final place after the teamsprint. Todd Lodwick and Johnny Spillane also won this competition, as 2nd finished Christoph Bieler und Michael Gruber. Team Norway 2, Espen Rian and Kristian Hammer came on 6th place and Team Norway 3, Jan Rune Grave and Håvard Klemetsen finished as 8th in A final. Last Norwegian, Ola Morten Græsli, started in a mixed team together with young Anze Obreza from Slovenija. They started in B final and finished as 7th.

With the price giving ceremony on the evening, the SGP ended for Team Norway. They left directly after the competition to take the Kielferry the other day. That training home in Norway was/is successful is proved with podium places in all 3 competitions.

Håvard Klemetsen started without high expectations in SGP, but is very satisfied with his results - and so is Magnus Moan.

The trainers are also satisfied with the development of the athletes and they wish and expect to become yet even better until the start of the winter. The results the boys showed were about what the trainers expected from them. We are looking forward to see them competing at top level next winter.

For øvrig, takk for blomstene, Jungens!
