The fieldtrip was organized by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) and Garyounis University (Benghazi) as a post-conference excursion of the Geology of Libya ymposium (Tripoli). The objective of the trip was an introduction to the Cretaceous-Oligocene of the Jebel Akhdar area in Cyrenaica. The trip is recommended to everyone interested in carbonate sedimentology and offshore reservoirs of Central North Africa. The author (S. Luning) wants to thank NOC, AGOCO and the University of Benghazi for setting up this useful introduction to NE Libyan geology.
