NORTHERN LIGHTS & ELECTRO CARROTS
- the Lemström-laboratory
exhibition by Oliver Kochta
29.11.-14.12. 2003 Esplanadin lava
Avoinna joka päivä klo 12-18
Avajaiset 28.11. klo17-20
The exhibition presented the story of the Finnish Professor Karl Selim Lemström to a wider audience. It took place as part of the Valon Voimat Festival 2003. The exhibition has been based on extensive research, numerous journeys and hours & days spent in archives and libraries in order to re-discover the Lemström case. The exhibition presents the biography of Lemström as an unique adventure in the border-land of science, art and spirituality. It includes rare historical material mixed with Kochtas own productions. The show also features ingenious drawings by pupils of the Ivalo school, whom Kochta had asked to draw their own versions of the northern light generator.
The ongoing Lemström project is supervised by the research department of the Romantic Geographic Society (RGS).
The research for this exhibition has been generously supported by Suomen Kulttuurirahasto and Alfred Kordelin rahasto.
