Brauche dringend Hilfe....

Vielen Dank!!! LG, Hartnette Every issue which is concerned with cloning or manipulating genes is a very delicate one, since it is an ethical topics have always been controversial. This applies to the common people and to politicians in equal ways. The dilemma results from the fact that on the one hand there are still many serious diseases, such as Parkinsons or Alzheimers, which might be cured by changing the DNA. By doing that patients might not have to suffer from deadly or life-long diseases any longer. A few illnesses can possibly even be completely cured that way. If the science provides the physicians with such a power it can be regarded legitimate to apply it. On the other hand, however, the ethical aspect of manipulating genes must also be taken into consideration, especially the fact that changing the DNA can be thought of as presumptious and god-like behaviour. It can also be the case that manipulating genes will have dire consequences for the patient’s health since scientists have not yet widened their knowledge enough to be able to fully estimate the effects which such a change can cause. This may entail that after the manipulation the patient’s state of health is even more serious than before. Another disadvantage of changing the DNA is the fact that it is not only employed to cure diseases but also to improve the predisposition of grain, fruit and vegetables in such a way that it grows faster, reaches a larger size, better taste and will not quickly rot. Modifiying the genes may also help to make food not as susceptible to illnesses or insects. This can have a favourable effect on the standard of living in poorer countries in such a way that insects cannot longer ruin the grain. However, there still is the danger of not having sufficient control over the reproduction of plants and consequently the ordinary grain and the one which is genetically modified might mingle. Thus even concerning plants manipulating genes is a controversial issue.
