Travel Report: About Ecuador
Introduction
This site is a collection of some of my impressions of Ecuador, and it notes where
to get some helpful advice for travelling. It neither demands to give a full
description of the country nor to provide complete travel information nor anything else.
Why do I write about Ecuador? It is an example for many countries having the problem
to unite several indigenous cultures and trying to take part in modern international
relationships. It shows the typical case of a unique nature and many indian clans to
be saved which are threatened by wild industrial evolution, poverty and disease. The
bad economical, ecological and political situation and the friendly and unique people of
this country are worth to be known by everyone thinking about the meaning of life
on our small planet Earth.
Last but not least it is part of my home. I spent my kindergarten time next to Quito,
and 19 years later in 2000 I visited it for the first time again. Now I say it
forever owns a piece of my heart.

Travelling & Learning Spanish
The best guidebooks are (as known under travellers)
- the "lonely planet" by Lonely Planet Publications, and
- the "South American Handbook" by UK & Worldwide Footprint Handbooks.
Learning spanish in Ecuador is an exciting thing. In the big cities like Quito and
Guiaquil there are many many schools to be found in the streets, offering prices starting at
about 3 US-dollars per hour. But there is one school I can really recommend. It is the
"Galápagos Spanish School"
in Quito. All teachers are well organized
and very helpful concerning any problems you could have. They also organized my accomodation
and even helped me when I got ill.
Travelling By Bike
Well, uh, I didn't make it so far, but some time I will. But anyway
I already found the best link for people wanting to do so, it is a
page linking many reports of South America bike / mountainbike travels.
