The
following sites have not been fully researched. The
information and data given here should be handled
with care, because we have found many contradictions.
The main purpose of this site is a central place for all
available information about the former German settlement of
Karlswalde. It is a place to learn more about the life of our
ancestors who lived in the area surrounding Ostrog, Volhynia.
We will be able to present and share information through this
forum. The more data we share, the greater the opportunity we
all have of finding ancestors and relatives and learn about
the life they led. This site is just beginning and with your
help it will be a dynamic one and the effort will be on
going. Our plan is to collect and publish the names of people
who were in any way connected with Karlswalde and the
surrounding villages. Please send us your data and histories
concerning the Karlswalde area. We would appreciate your help
with corrections, criticism, information and ideas that
should be placed or not placed on this site.
You are free to use everything you find here for nonprofit
purposes or to share it with others. The documents may also
be linked by other WWW sites. Remember always to obey the
copyright of the authors. However, it may not be republished
in any form without permission of the copyright owner.
You need Javascript enabled if you want some of these page
to do anything useful! For Netscape, it's under
Options/Network Preferences/Languages.
On the History
page you will find all kind of documents, stories and
also reports about visits to the area. The content of these
documents is at is was written in the original at that date,
the form is sometimes adapted to HTML requirements.
With the map and photo page we are trying to give you an
impression of the landscape surrounding Karlswalde in
Volhynia. You can access it in two ways: Maps
and photo page with preview or you can use the Maps
and photo page without preview (which is a lot more
faster to load).
The Karlswalde
Research Center gives you the opportunity to have a look
for your ancestors who lived in one of the former German
settlements near Ostrog. On top of this page you will find a
possibility to search in all of the documents of the
Karlswalde web pages with a powerful engine! You can choose
"any word", "all words" or an "exact
phrase" you like to find. With "Sound-alike
matching", you are able to define the number of results,
if they should be displayed with or without summaries, and
you can sort them by score or date.
The databases: There are name lists for the villages Antononfka,
Fuerstendorf, Fuerstental, Gruental, Jadwonin, Michailovka,
Karlswalde, Karolsberge, Stanislawka and Waldheim on this
server. Every person who was in any way connected with one of
these villages is listed in the form "lastname,
firstname", "info", and "source". So
you can switch to the document on the web or get in contact
with somebody who already did research on that person. The
idea of this database is to get a complete collection of
names. Names of persons you find for example on "Various
lists" you will in any case also find on the names lists
for the villages, but the other lists may help you to get an
idea of another context. An additional feature on this page
is the Family
register, which is a bit different, because names are
collected for each family name. Under "Various
lists" you will also find the List
of the settlers of Karlswalde (1900-1910) and The Lutheran cemetery records of Karlswalde from
1876 to 1908. Please help us
to let these databases grow. Send us genealogical information
about your ancestors that should be placed on our site with
the upload-email-form
The Contact
and Exchange page was made to share infos with others.
You can get in contact with researcher's who are looking for
information about their ancestors in the area surrounding
Ostrog with the Researcher's
email list. Post a query including name, location and
your e-mail address. To start discussions about special
themes we have started the Karlswalde
messageboard. One of the features is that you can link
your message to a web address or an image URL. We meet live
at the Karlswalde
Chat. Remember: Meetings are held every first Sunday of the
month at 8 pm (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time! There is also a free
service to keep you updated about changes of our Web-Site,
the Karlswalde
Newsletter, which is sent out irregularily. We would like
to ask you to tell others about our sites and the
Karlswalde-Newsletter. We hope you enjoy this service and we
welcome any suggestions that you may have. Please also visit the Karlswalde Guestbook.
If you are seeking for more information, first have a look
at our Links
page. The recommended sites linked from the Karlswalde
web pages are - as far as I know - in order with existing
laws. If not, please give me your message, so I can delete
these links. I declare hereby, that I am not responsible for
the content of those pages and further sites linked to them.
Don't forget, that postings in the Karlswalde guestbook or
anything you write in the Karlswalde chat-forum or on the
Karlswalde messageboard should be in order with laws, human
rights and common terms of treating eachother.
The data that is
linked to addresses on this server in general is written with
it's full name, data that you will find on other servers is
written with it's URL-address. PLEASE NOTICE! The following
sites have not been fully researched. We have found many
contradictions. Due to that reason, the information and data
given here should be handled with care.
One confusing aspect
is, that there were many other villages with the name
Karlswalde. For Antonowka and some of the other locations
there is the same problem. There were different
villages with the same name in Russia or elsewhere, and it is
not always prooved, if names of persons found on the web
(especially in the St. Pete's records) or in databases
mentionned on the Karlswalde Web Pages belong to the villages
near Ostrog Volhynia. Due to that reason, I have not finished
all of the name lists on the Karlswalde web sites. There is
more research needed. I appreciate your help completing these
lists - also for correcting!
