Alfred Elton van Vogt

1912- ; canadian

He was born in Winnipeg, and hard to believe, was not invited to the World-scifi-convention taking place there in 1994. He began to write for Campbells Astounging and soon became known as good author, just like Asimov, De Camp, Heilein and Sturgeon. He stoped writing around 1950 and didn't produce anything for twenty years. When he restarted in 1968, his time was already long gone. Some of his really great works were Slan, The weapon shops of isher and The world of A. he got into contact with dianetics, a pseudo-science created by his scifi-collegue L. Ron. Hubbard. He never had anything to do with Scientology, but diantics was enough to end his career as a scifi-author. More about Alfred Elton Van Vogt.
