Geschichtsverein Härten e.V.

In 1999 the Geschichtsverein Härten e.V. (Historical society of the Haerten) was founded. The basic objective of the society is the research of the history of the five towns on the Haerten and the preservation of art and cultural history. This applies especially in the indexation of the old city archives and the preservation of the old books.

With its ongoing activities the society has successfuly attracted new members who are interested in the towns history and are helping to gather new information.

Calendars

In 2001 the society started publishing a calendar which can be purchased via the society and the local banks. Since then every year a new calendar has been published. The new one for 2007 will contain selected paintings of the Haerten from a local artist, Ernst Bernhard. Presentations

On May 31, 2002 I have held my first presentation about of my research on the Kemmler family. On Oct 14, 2005 a second presentation followed about the emigrants of the area under the title "On the tracks of the emigrants".
