Not deterred by a rain shower, numerous telescopes manned by the regional observers group KBA wait for breaks in the clouds before the evening part of the SternenFest begins.

German astronaut Reinhold Ewald, veteran of the Mir '97 mission.

Physics pop star Metin Tolan discussing the physics of Star Trek - without visuals and at a high level but very entertaining. (And no, he's not trying in vain to do the Vulcan greeting - this has something to do with quantum mechanics ... :-)

Amy Elaine singing some classic tunes, causing an "emotional wildfire" (quoting from her website).

The final talk, with light pollution fighter Andreas Hänel, Lutz Möller from UNESCO and Jörg Stegert from the Public Observatory Bonn.

The emcee in a different role: Paul Hombach's famous musical improvisation, interpreting an - astronomy-themed - tune from the audience in various styles, from Beethoven to Heavy Metal ...

The "top act" of the German IYA SternenFest: The Pink Floyd cover band Us & Them playing for 1½ hours - the final tune, of course, is Brain Damage, and while the crowd joins into the refrain "see you on the dark side of the Moon", the latter has indeed become visible in the real sky!

That was that! Paul thanks all the helping hands who had made that wonderful
event possible. And the SPoC - and roaring crowd - celebrate him.
But it's not over yet ...

... as - against all odds - the low-hanging Moon can still be viewed from the Münsterplatz with the ever-ready KBA telescopes.
