Music
In late 2002 sub ether radio recorded a five track demo CD. The result had a great reception and whetted the appetite of listeners for more. As a result, the first full length album 'Fuchsia's Jewel' was recorded in 2004. It was a gruelling schedule to achieve 13 tracks in two weeks of recording, but the band attacked the project with an energy, efficiency and humour that's become synonymous with the name sub ether radio. The result speaks for itself.
Fuchsia's Jewel
Why 'Fuchsia's Jewel'? After the photo sessions for the CD artwork, sub ether radio unanimously chose the cover you see now. Tony's daughter, Michelle, proved to be the most professional in front of the camera of all of us. There was a cover image, there was a great CD, but no title. The band brainstormed and Billy realized that the picture of Michelle reminded him of a character in the Ghormenghast trilogy by Mervyn Peake. Her name was Fuchsia. More brainstorming, and the boys got on to the subject of what music and radio in particular meant to each of them. A common theme was that, for each member of the band, a radio was something precious. So Tony suggested that something precious, something to be treasured was a jewel ... that was the title!
