Short Introduction

Hamster is a local server for news and mail. It's a windows-32-bit-program. It allows the use of multiple news- and mailserver and combines them to one mail- and newsserver for the news/mail-client. It load faster than a normal newsreader because many threads can run simultaneous. It contains scorefile for news and mail, a build-in script language, the GUI allows translation to other languages, it can be used in a network and that's not all features...

Die 2.1.0.11 is the current version after a very long beta-cycle (sorry, folks), so the beta-versions were tested very intensive this time. The changes to 2.0.0.1 affects mostly features for experienced users and internal things: e.g. the IMAP-server is much more stable, there are new script-commands, new actions and some extensions and changes for mail/news-score-files and downloading of postings from Hamster is faster than ever.

The 2.0.0.1 was the current version from Xmas 2002 until October 2005. Changes included new local servers for remote control and IMAP, improved user interface (new directly available settings, directories-dialog and much more), many new command and functions for the script-language hs2, improvements for security (native SSL-support with OpenSSL-DLLs!).

1.3.23.4 was the last stable for over one year and had proved its quality.

1.3.22.0 was the first stable release of me, the earlier version was 1.3.21.0 from Jürgen Haible itself, who created Hamster. Most significant changes to 1.3.21.0 are: Internationalization and better configuration dialogs.
