~*~ Moon so bright, Night so fine,

Keep your heart here with mine
       Life’s a dream we are dreaming ~*~
You can say that again. I think to myself, as the alarm clock announces a new day. I roll over and sit up on the edge of my bed, thinking.

~*~ Race the moon, catch the wind,

Ride the night to the end,
Seize the day, stand up for the light ~*~
Ride the night to the end? That reminds me of when Colonel O’Neill and Teal’c were stuck in the death glider heading for the Oort Cloud. I remember it quite painfully. I had almost lost Jack.

~*~ I want to spend my lifetime loving you

If that is all in life I ever do ~*~
I wish that could happen. Damned Air Force regulations! Sometimes I wish an exception could be made for the many soldiers of the SGC. Damn it on the classification of the Stargate Program.

~*~ Heroes rise, heroes fall,

       Rise again, win it all,
In your heart, can’t you feel the glory? ~*~
That makes me remember another time that Jack had almost died. Well, died and then came back. Thanks to the Nox, that is. I was afraid of losing Jack then too.

~*~ Through our joy, through our pain,

       We can move worlds again
Take my hand, dance the dance with me ~*~
I think of all the people that Jack has lost. His wife, his son, Kawalsky and many other friends. So much pain in his life.
I’ve lost part of who I was, due to Jolinar, Martouf’s death, and my father’s long gone illness. I, too, have had pain and lost people. But Jack and I are strong willed. We can help each other through the pain.

~*~ I want to spend my lifetime loving you

If that is all in life that I ever do
I will want nothing else to see me through
If I can spend my lifetime loving you ~*~
I want to be able to love Jack the rest of my life. I will see that that happens when the time is right. But it can’t be now. Damn the military and their rules!

~*~ Though we know we will never come again

Where there is love, life begins
       Over and over again ~*~
I know that wherever Jack goes, I will follow him there. I’d follow that man to Hell and back, if that’s what it takes to be with him.
~*~ Save the night, save the day ~*~
Gee, Apophis’s ship and Replicators trying to destroy Earth. I’d say we saved the day all right! At least I was with Jack when we did save Earth.
Suddenly, I hear a knock on my front door and I walk out of my bedroom as I’m pulling a pale blue sweater over my head.
I open the door to see Jack O’Neill there with a single red rose in his hand. I smile at him as I let him into my apartment.

~*~ Save the love, come what may,

Love is worth everything we pay ~*~
Got to give Jack credit. He has the right kind of timing.
“Morning,” I say, the smile still on my face. “What brings you here?”
“You do,” Jack says simply, grinning slightly. He hands me the rose and I take it from him, our fingers brushing slightly. “Sleep well?”
“Yeah,” I say, heading to the kitchen to put the rose in water. “Be right back.”
I walk to my bedroom after putting the rose in a vase, turn off my alarm clock, make my bed and then head back to the living room. Jack is just standing there staring at me with that sheepish grin on his face. I smile in spite of myself.
“What,” I say, suddenly concerned. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothin’,” he replies. “Just thinking about how beautiful you look in that sweater.”
I blush slightly and glance down at the sweater I’m wearing. I notice that it is the sweater that Jack bought for me last Christmas.
“Well, thanks,” I finally say. “Guess I just felt like wearing it today.” Jack only nods his reply to me.
“Well,” he starts to say, then pauses. “We have a few days stand down. What do you want to do, Sam? And don’t tell me that you want to work on Naquadah reactors.”
“What do you mean, Sir?” I ask, slipping into the ‘Major Carter’ role. I see Jack roll his eyes when I say that.
“Call me Jack, please.” He asks and I nod.
“How about a movie and lunch?” I suggest to him, smiling. He stares at me with wide eyes. God, how I love those chocolate brown eyes!
“Okay,” he finally replies, grinning again. “You pick the movie and I’ll pick the restaurant?”
“Deal.” I say, picking up my keys and grabbing my black leather jacket. Then we walk out the door to his black Jeep.
After the movie, Jack and I go to O’Malley’s for lunch. We sit and talk. I’m enjoying the time with him as only Jack O’Neill and Samantha Carter. Not Colonel and Major.
After lunch, Jack and I go back to my place to spend more time together. I tell him that I was planning on having a small little get together with Daniel, Janet and Teal’c. Jack says that would be a good plan, being that we haven’t been together as a group for a long while.
We spend a few more hours together talking, watching a couple of hockey games and listening to my CD’s, when Jack grabs my hand and walks us over to an open spot in my living room.

“Just breathe, Sam.” Jack says, pulling me closer to him. His left arm around my waist, while his right hand holds mine to his chest. I can feel the beating of his heart under my hand. Of all the times I’ve dreamt of touching his chest, this is really special to me.

I listen to the song as I lay my head on his left shoulder.

As the song ends, I lift my head to look into Jack’s eyes. He looks at me for a minute, and then takes my face in his hands, wiping the tears away that I didn’t even know had fallen.
I close my eyes at his touch and feel a warmth that I haven’t felt in a long time. I open my eyes to see Jack lean towards me and then feel his lips on mine.
I feel his tongue tracing my lips, asking for entrance. I respond to his tongue as I wrap my arms around his neck, entwining my fingers in his grey hair. I then fall into his embrace, my knees suddenly turning to Jell-O.
He picks me up and carries me to my bedroom and lays me on my bed. I look up at him and smile. He smiles back. He has long since removed his shoes, as have I. He runs his hands from my hips, up under my sweater and tries to remove it.
Sitting up, I raise my arms over my head so that he can take the sweater off. Then he removes my jeans, leaving me only in my underwear. He pulls off his black sweater, as well as his khakis, which leaves him in only his boxers.
He lays over me and trails kisses from my neck to my shoulders. He runs his hands over the bare flesh of my stomach.
After a few minutes, Jack stops and looks at me.
“Are you okay with this, Sam?” He asks. My kiss is the only answer that I can give him. He then removes what few clothing items we wear and then makes the most passionate, breath-taking love to me.
As we lay in the aftermath of passion, I think about how many nights I’ve dreamt of this moment with the man I’ve loved since the first day that I met him.
“I love you, Jack.” I say, finally telling him what I’ve longed to say since the Zatarc retests.
“I love you too, Sam,” he replies. “I always will.” He places his left hand on my head and entwines his fingers in my blonde hair. I trace designs on his lightly-haired chest and kiss his shoulder. As I try to think about what my life would be like without Jack, I become scared and push that thought away.
“Sam,” Jack whispers. “Will you love me for all your lifetime?”
“Yes, Jack,” I whisper back. “I will.”

THE END
