Aldebaran [ alīde ' ba 'ran ] , galaxy - wide known as one of the hundred brightest stars of the Galaxy is actually the brightest star in the old saga constellation Taurus; An orange giant star (spectral class K5 III) , Aldebaran is a visual binary star and an irregular variable star .
